Welcome! I am a "seasoned" Grade One Teacher who has embarked on a journey of bringing more inquiry and play into teaching. I am inspired by the works of Reggio Emilia, Hawkins, Debbie Diller, FDK and am experimenting with creating a "seamless" curriculum in Grade One. My hope is that my journey may inspire other primary teachers to "slow down" and allow more play and inquiry into their programs. This journey has changed me in so many ways and I feel that my students are now truly "active" in their learning. My hope is that I can encourage other teachers to "slow down", allow for more choice and voice within their programs and teach by providing authentic experiences for children. I am constantly learning, growing and experimenting as I research, converse with colleagues and listen to student voices. I am hoping to continue on this path of Professional Development and welcome comments from others!
Our first Lenten activity is Friday! We invite you to dress like Mr. Santos! Students are asked to wear their favourite funky tie and sport a moustache (or maybe even a Habs jersey?) for a donation of $2.00 to CHEO.
